Founder: Emilio Khatis

The Fist Up Organisation was founded by Stage 4 Advanced B Hodgkin's Lymphoma patient Emilio Khatis ( Sydney, Australia). Diagnosed at the age of 22, Emilio underwent 6 rounds of intense chemotherapy, before finally being declared in remission in November of 2020. Emilio attributes his success in his cancer journey to the strength created in his mind and supported by his family and friends and the professionals around him. His keenness to recover and his mental strength, motivated by the people closest to him and those he met on the way, he believes, paved his path to recovery.

Our organisation understands and can directly relate to all cancer patients and their associated friends and families. The shock of introducing cancer into a person’s life, shattering everything they know and weighing them down with worries they have never had can be a traumatic experience and one that we make our mission to take the pressure off.

The Fist up organisation has connected with leading professionals within the cancer / chemotherapy industry, giving us access to the information and resources needed to help kick start their treatment and road to recovery.

Emilio’s Story

Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Advanced B Hodgkin Lymphoma. To say that my family and I were in complete shock and disbelief does not serve those words justice. It’s an absolute understatement.

My life’s legacy in my early 20s was always based on the belief that I was invincible, doing everything and anything I could, not thinking cancer was any option on the cards.

It’s safe to say that this experience has not only changed my outlook, but has opened my eyes to what matters most on this journey we call life. My diagnosis has not only inspired me to make the most of every day, but rekindled my religious faith and strengthened my core values.

“Cancer gave me a new appreciation for the simple things:
Life. Love. Faith.”

My heart is so filled with the overwhelming amount of love and support I have received from my incredible family (I can’t even comprehend the stress, pain and anxiety that my mum, dad and brother went through - you guys are the definition of BACKBONE) friends, loved ones, doctors, nurses, and the community as a whole. I will never be able to show my gratitude toward all those who have supported me on this journey. I am truly blessed to have such an amazing support circle around me. “Strength is created in the mind and supported by those around you”. Now, all I can do is strive to succeed and ensure I make those around me proud of the man I will become after this.

Having strength during such an unremitting phase in life was an infectious trade that I learnt to understand. An amazing friend of mine who is no longer with us taught me that “Your environment will mirror the emotions, feelings and energy presented.” - @chrys.kittycoda

I aim to support as many people going through a similar experience. I, alongside a number of influential and positive people, will be starting @fistuporganisation which will focus on supporting those at their most vulnerable. Cancer should not be something one has to endeavour on their own.

Thanks to ALL- LIVE, LOVE, FAITH, - Fists up.
